Amanda Brannon said she grew up thinking she would become a lawyer after coming home every day from school and watching the O.J. Simpson trial on Court TV with her dad. After studying abroad in Argentina for seven months, she decided she wanted to try her hand at reporting and covering the news.

During her junior and senior years of college at North Carolina-Chapel Hill, she interned at NBC-17 where she focused primarily on producing and learning to write and then at ABC-11 where she focused on reporting. She also worked for Student Television at UNC on a comedy show called "Late Night" where she was a correspondent in the field.

After graduating with a bachelors degree in communication and a minor in Spanish from UNC in May of 2009, she worked as a production assistant for UNC-TV's travel tourism show, "North Carolina Weekend." There, she learned to write, edit, and report on five-minute feature stories throughout the state.

As a native of the state, Amanda was thrilled to stay close to her family living in Chapel Hill by joining NewsChannel 12 in February 2011 as a producer. However, reporting was always where her heart was so she quickly made her way to reporting in July of that year.

When she's not chasing news, she loves to go running, take pilates classes, watch television and hang out with family and friends.

If you see her out and about, she'd love to hear from you. She wants to tell your stories, so if you have an idea send her an e-mail or call the newsroom at (252) 636-6840 and ask for Amanda.
