Over the past 20+ years, Scott has worked just about every job in a newsroom.

Scott’s career started in 1991 as a news photographer at WETM-TV in Elmira, N.Y. He worked his way up the ranks to reporter and, eventually, anchor/producer. In 1997, Scott decided to move into news management and accepted a position as assistant news director of WBNG-TV, Binghamton N.Y. After five years in that role, Scott headed back to WETM-TV where he spent the next ten years as news director.

During those ten years, the station won numerous awards from the New York State Broadcaster’s Association (Including “Outstanding Local Newscast” in 2011), the Associated Press and the Syracuse Press Club. However, the award he’s most proud of is 2008’s “Outstanding Individual Program Designed for Children” for a program called “Strong Kids Safe Kids” which he hosted with his eldest daughter. Because Elmira is considered a small television market, Scott’s also had the honor of hiring and training more than 100 journalists as they began their careers.

In 2012, Scott moved his family to North Carolina to help build on the successes of WCTI NewsChannel 12 and enjoy a warmer climate. “Once I met everyone in the newsroom, I knew this was a team I wanted to work with,” says Scott. He lives in New Bern with his wife and two daughters. When not working, chances are you’ll catch him at the beach with his family or cheering on his daughters at their soccer and swimming competitions.
