Pitt County Sherriff Officials said this isn't the first time law enforcement has visited the home of Steven Haddock Junior over disputes with his girlfriend.
Records show 36-year-old Steven Earl Haddock Jr., of Greenville, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, second degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, driving while impaired and reckless driving to endanger.
Family of Haddock said his longtime girlfriend called law enforcement on Haddock Friday. Haddock’s sister Amy said she believes the argument was over money and other issues.
"One thing led to another and shots were fired, but not at her," Amy said.
However, officials said the report shows the argument didn't start over money.
During the argument Haddock allegedly shot through the victims phone and hit her cat. Family members of Haddock said the couple then rode in the victim's car to an ATM.
Deputies said the victim was forced to go to the ATM machine and withdraw money. Family members of Haddock said while he had a gun in the car he never held her at gunpoint.
"[The victim] told me that he didn't point the gun at her there that it was riding in the vehicle in between the seats," Amy said.
When they got back the suspect's family said the victim asked Haddock to come inside. Instead he sat in his own car. The family thinks the victim then decided to leave in her own car, followed by Haddock shooting his gun and aiming at the air.
Haddock was arrested at his home shortly after the incident on Friday, the 3rd.
Haddock is being held under $205,000 dollar secured bond.
