Tadahiro KanemasuA 'superhero' waits by the stairs in a Tokyo subway station, waiting to lend a hand to the elderly, passengers with heavy luggage and parents with strollers.

Tadahiro Kanemasu, 27, has spent three months being a good Samaritan at the same station on Tokyo, which does not have elevators or escalators, according to Reuters.

Why the superhero outfit? "Japanese people find it hard to accept help, they feel obligated to the other person, so the mask really helps me out," Kanemasu said.

Since Kanemasu can set aside only a couple of hours each day for helping others, he hopes to recruit like-minded Samaritans with assisting subway riders.
