3 accused of stealing safe, van from Greene County church
Greene County deputies arrested three men accused of breaking into a church, then stealing a safe and a van.
Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith said Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and Christian Academy reported a break-in on June 12. A safe with an undisclosed amount of money and a church van were stolen.
Deputies were able to recover the stolen property through interviews and evidence. This lead to the arrest of 25-year-old Steven Woods, 16-year-old Dexter Duncan and 17-year-old Ta’vein Joyner, the Sheriff's Office said. All three men are from the Snow Hill area.
Woods and Duncan are charged with breaking and entering a place of worship, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, safecracking, and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, investigators said. Joyner is charged with safecraking and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering.
Woods received a $50,000 bond, Duncan received a $80,000 bond, and Joyner received a $2,500 bond.
Two juveniles are also being charged in this incident, according to the Sheriff's Office. The investigation is still on going.
