Halloween is one of the most anticipated holidays of the year for children, but there are important safety precautions for parents to consider.
According to law enforcement officials, registered sex offenders are not allowed to participate in Halloween activities. However, officials say the best advice for parents is to steer clear of the homes of registered sex offenders.
You can find sex offenders in your neighborhood by visiting the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry online. Click HERE to access the registry. Once there, click on the "search the registry" tab in the left side bar and enter an address of the neighborhood you'll be trick-or-treating in.
If you find any where you'll be, officials say the best safety advice for parents is to keep their kids away from those homes.
