Five area high school football teams are playing in state championship games this weekend.  And they are all getting big send offs.

Havelock high school will hold a pep rally at 8:20 AM Friday.  The football team will then depart for Durham where the Rams will practice at Duke, the continue to Winston-Salem for Saturday's state championship game.  The defending state champs will take on Concord at Groves Stadium at 3 PM.  The city of Havelock has several signs showing support for the Rams.

New Bern's football team will leave for Chapel Hill at 11:30 Friday morning.   Teachers and students will send the team off.  New Bern will take on Porter Ridge at 7:30 in Chapel Hill.  The Bears are trying to win the schools second state title.  The other came in 2007.

Three time defending state champ Tarboro makes the trek to Winston-Salem Saturday to play East Lincoln.   The Vikings will play the Mustangs at 11 AM.

SW Onslow and Plymouth have the shortest trips.  The Vikings, who won a state title in 20007, will take on defending state champ Murphy in Raleigh at 11 AM.  The Stallions play Saturday afternoon at 3 pm against Swain County.  The SWO is looking for its first state title since 2004.
