Onslow County Commissioners broke ground Thursday for the new county government center.
The $20 million project will house 12 departments that currently exist at eight different sites, according to a county publication. The goal is to create a "one-stop shop" for citizens who carry out county business, officials said.
The site is at the N.A. Burton Business and Industrial Park, off Richlands Highway, between Jacksonville and Richlands.
The construction will be completed without a tax increase, county leaders said. The facility is expected to be done in 26 months.
