GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

A man is charged with DWI for crashing his truck into a power pole Tuesday morning, rolling the vehicle over and shutting down a busy intersection, police said.

The crash happened after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of Red Banks Road and Greenville Boulevard.  The driver, identified as 32-year-old David Michael Chambers, of Greenville, has been charged with DWI and careless and reckless driving.

Tuesday morning's crash knocked out power to traffic lights at the intersection of Red Banks Road and Greenville Boulevard. The intersection is expected to be closed until 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Drivers are advised to try to find alternate routes.

Chambers was taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators said Chambers has at least two prior DWI arrests. According to records, the suspect was last arrested for DWI on Feb. 16, by ECU Police.
