A Jacksonville family is celebrating Christmas with a brand new ford pickup truck donated by Buffalo Bills player and former Richlands native Mario Williams.
Marine veterans Sgt. Justin Hunter and Staff Sgt. Cherie Hunter picked up the 2009 F-250 in Garner Tuesday.
"It's the biggest truck I've ever seen," Justin Hunter said.
The couple said they applied to the Purple Heart Home organization in February, and found out about the donation from Williams a few months ago.
"All of this couldn't have come at a more perfect timing for us," Cherie Williams said.
The couple, who has four children, said transportation has been tough. Cherie commutes to culinary arts classes in Durham, and said the family's old car was on its last leg.
"This put a great deal of relief on us as far as transportation for me to go back and forth to school," she said.
The Hunter's were not able to meet Williams, but said they were able to speak to him on the phone to express their gratitude.
The Purple Heart Home organization also plans to renovate the Hunter family's home early next year.
