Gym stays open months after arson fire

GetItIn Fitness Boxing's future was foggy when tragedy struck on July 14th of this year.
The building the business was in went up in flames early in the morning on the 100 block of East Gordon Street. Two other buildings on the block were also set on fire.
One of the building's owners, 49-year-old William Shawn Scott, was arrested for allegedly committing the arson.
The very same day, members of the gym were brainstorming how to keep the gym open to help the owner, Ike Ezeji.
"Not only does he work you hard, he'll text you during the day, you know 'keep your head up you're doing a good job,'" Heather Sperry said. Heather has been attending classes at the gym for a year.
"That's really my goal with the gym. That they can do anything they can put their mind to," said Ezeji.
It's that attitude which created the family-like atmosphere at GetItIn Fitness Boxing.
The new gym location is located just around the corner from the old one at 215 North Queen St. Gym members have rallied around Ezeji to get donated equipment for him to use.
GetItIn Fitness Boxing holds free classes for youth Monday to Friday at 4:00pm, 5:00pm, and 6:30pm.
