NC activists rally against violence toward women
(AP) - Activists in North Carolina are planning to rally in the state capital to join a worldwide call to end violence against women and girls.
As part of the One Billion Rising movement, a rally is scheduled for Thursday at the Meredith College Amphitheater in Raleigh. Newly appointed Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown is scheduled to speak at the rally.
In addition to music, there will be stories from women who have experienced violence.
The event is being hosted by the school and several groups, including InterAct, a private, nonprofit agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
