GREENVILLE -

Two new rear load sanitation trucks from Greenville Public Works are up for sale two weeks after they arrived.

Interim Public Works Director Scott Godefroy said the order for the rear loading trucks was made in November, before City Council decided in April to phase out to automated trucks for curbside service.

Godefroy said they tried to trade out for an automated truck, but the new trucks were already in production.

City Council will decide how the trucks worth $140,000 will be sold at the August 6th meeting. Godefroy said other municipalities have already shown interest.

The two trucks were ordered to replace older modeled trucks and were paid for from the Public Works vehicle replacement fund. If the trucks are not sold to another city, they will continue to be used for debris pickup.
