A new exhibit, beginning Friday, shows the history of African Americans in baseball.

The exhibit, called "Pride & Passion: The African American Baseball Experience," is at the New Bern-Craven County Library, located on 400 Johnson Street in New Bern. It's free, and available during regular library hours (Mon-Th 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fri-Sat 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun 2 p.m.-6 p.m.).

Joanne Straight, the head librarian, said the exhibit brings a big-museum experience to anyone who attends.

"As you can see, it is basically a replica of one of the exhibits that you would see at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York," said Straight. "And we're fortunate to bring it to New Bern."

Movies, lectures, and a play are scheduled to go along with the exhibit, which will run from March 8 to April 18. CLICK HERE for more information.
