A Pitt County man won almost $140,000 from playing the Carolina Cash 5.
Milton Moore, a retiree from Grimesland, won the $139,232 jackpot in the Nov. 20 drawing, said Christopher Bushnell with the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Moore bought his jackpot-winning ticket at the Handy Mart on N.C. 17 in Chocowinity, Bushnell said.
"Right now I'm feeling pretty good about it," Moore said. "I'm going to pay off all my bills."
Moore added he may use a portion of his $94,678 after-tax winnings to take a trip to the western part of the country.
Ticket sales for games such as Carolina Cash 5 have allowed the North Carolina Education Lottery to raise more than $2.58 billion for education initiatives statewide, Bushnell said. Since the lottery began through June 30, Pitt County education programs had received more than $39.8 million in lottery funds.
