GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Greenville Police said they are looking for three armed robbers, who broke into a home near East Carolina University and robbed several students Thursday night.

According to investigators, the robbery happened just before midnight Thursday at 1102 S. Cotanche St. in Greenville.

Three ECU students told police they were playing video games inside the home with three other men, when the robbers came in, pistol-whipped them, then took their money and cell phones.

“It was insane. They just came in, pulled the guns out, told us to get on the floor. Then, they just told us to empty our pockets and they took all our stuff," said one of the victims, who did not want to be identified. "They took the Xbox, they took my laptop, took my phone, everything."

According to police, the three armed robbers also stole drugs from the home, which was what they were really after.

"When you engage in risky behavior like having drugs in your house or associating with people who are doing drugs, you're apt to be subject to this type of behavior," said Sgt. Joe Friday of the Greenville Police Department.

Police did not say whether the victims in the robbery would face drug charges.

According to investigators, the robbery was not random and people in the neighborhood should not be worried.
