Power is back on in New Bern.
City Officials said all power outages reported after Sunday’s storms have now been restored.
More than 8,000 homes in New Bern lost electricity when strong winds ripped down power lines.
"It's felt like a week,” resident Mary Howell said. "Especially since the temperature is 90 degrees."
Howell lost power Sunday when a tree fell down in her yard. Crews were at her house today getting her back on the grid.
"They just came in and said we'll have power within 30 minutes,” Howell said. “So that made us very happy.”
The damage throughout the city was enough to call in extra help. Crews from High Point, Wake Forest, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Kinston contributed to a mutual aid.
“We’re clearing up the trees, getting lines down, getting them back up and stuff," Daniel Hicks, Rocky Mount line worker, said. "In Hurricane Irene, a bunch of other cities came down to Rocky Mount and helped us, so we'll repay the favor."
City officials said all main lines are repaired.
Crews are now finishing service reconnects for individual customers.
