Ruptured gas line causes road closure

NEW BERN -

Construction crews ruptured a gas line in front of CarolinaEast Medical Center Friday night, causing a section of a busy road to shut down, police said.

The section of Neuse Blvd. in front of the hospital was closed and the nearby Walgreens store was evacuated, police said.

A construction crew hit the gas line while laying down a water pipe, police said. No one was injured.
