A wanted man was arrested Saturday afternoon.
Max Albert Dorat Tejada, also known as Max Alberto Diaz, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. at 3130 Ayden Golf Club Road.
The suspect was apprehended by the United States Marshall Fugitive Task Force with assistance from the Greenville Police Department, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Bureau of Investigation.
He was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond.
A domestic dispute turned deadly Tuesday evening in the parking lot of the Sedgefield Apartment Complex off Concord Dr. in Greenville, according to officials.
Police said the victim, Elizabeth Hope Cutler, 32, of Washington, died after emergency surgery at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Investigators say the suspect is Max Albert Dorat Tejada.
Police have confirmed that the victim's family has been notified.
Witnesses at the scene told police they saw a man and woman fighting. As the woman started to use a cell phone, the man took it from her, threw it on the pavement, and then proceeded to stab the woman several times, according to a news release.
Witnesses reported the suspect then fled on foot toward the railroad tracks to the east behind the apartment. EMS transported the woman to Vidant Medical Center.
Detectives from the Investigations Bureau, along with forensics personnel were at the scene for several hours interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for the suspect.
A knife that may have been the weapon used by the suspect was recovered near the apartments. Police dogs searched several wooded areas around the railroad tracks between Hooker Road and S. Evans Street looking for Tejada.
Residents said Cutler and Tejada are boyfriend and girlfriend.
It was believed Tejada was staying in the Sedgefield Apartment complex. Sedge-Field Apartment Property owner said Culter nor Tejada are residents of the complex.
A resident who did not want to be identified said Tejada was staying with him for a while and that Tejada and Hope are from Washington.
Cutler died early Wednesday morning from her wounds.
