Crews are cleaning up the mess after a tractor-trailer crashed into a home in Lenoir County.
The Highway Patrol said it happened around 10:15 a.m. Monday in the mobile home park of Lynley Place, which is east of Kinston.
Trooper R. B. Kirk said that the truck's driver, Richard Davis of Gastonia, was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital by rescue crews.
After investigation, Highway Patrol found that Davis was driving on westbound 70 when he fell unconscious. Davis then crossed over the highway median into the eastbound lanes of Hwy 70, Kirk said. There were no other cars on the road at the time.
After entering the eastbound lines of highway 70, the truck driver entered a ditch and hit a utility light pole.
The truck continued past the pole and stopped after hitting the single-wide mobile home at 1945 U.S Highway 70. No one was home at the time of the accident.
Kirk said Davis will be charged with reckless driving.
Over 2,000 Progress Energy customers were without power in the Southwood area after the pole was hit.
