A woman was killed in a wreck that trapped her husband over the weekend.
The one-car crash happened in the area of Church Road Bridge in Havelock at around 4:25 p.m. on Saturday, police said. Officers found the victims' pick-up truck overturned and down an embankment.
Mary Wells, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her husband, 68-year-old Robert Wells, was trapped inside their truck and had to be cut from the vehicle. He was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with multiple injuries.
Investigators determined the truck hit the end of the concrete bridge wall, head-on, during heavy rain.
