CRAVEN COUNTY -

Investigators are working to determine how the barn fire started.

The barn is located on the 700-block of Southwest Craven Middle School Road. That's halfway between HWY 55 and Spring Garden Road in Craven County.

No. 9 Township Fire & Rescue got the call about 6:15 p.m. Monday night. It took firefighters more than an hour to put out the fire.

West New Bern Fire Department and Craven County Rescue Squad responded to the call as well, according to Tony Gatlin, the public information officer for No. 9 Township Fire & Rescue.

No one was injured; however, the barn burned to the ground and is considered a total loss.
