RALEIGH, N.C. -

The North Carolina state Senate's top leader says he's committed to ensuring difficulties get fixed with new state computer programs that process Medicaid claims and determine whether people qualify for government services.

Senate leader Phil Berger of Eden said Wednesday on the chamber's floor fellow Republicans would work with Democrats to address delays related to the Medicaid system and another program, NC FAST.

Berger was responding to Minority Leader Martin Nesbitt of Asheville, who says some medical providers are worried they'll go out of business because they aren't getting reimbursed for services in a timely manner.

The Medicaid program NC TRACKS began July 1. State health officials have said it's working but providers are still getting comfortable with it.

Berger said he expected a committee would look at the issues.
