NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY -

An alligator was spotted in a Craven County community Wednesday morning.

Brothers Ben and Jake Vereen snapped photos of the alligator on Landscape Road in Carolina Colours, not far from Creekside Elementary School in New Bern. According to Ben, his brother was driving to work at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when he spotted the 4 to 5-foot reptile.

Ben said he believed the alligator emerged from a pond and crossed the road to get to a wooded area. Ben added that the gator did not appear to be frightened at all.
