WASHINGTON, DC -

Congressman Walter B. Jones has voted for a pair of bills that would delay two requirements included in President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law.

The first piece of legislation would postpone implementation of Obamacare’s “individual mandate,” which imposes a fine on Americans who do not have health care coverage.  The second bill  would also delay implementation of Obamacare’s “employer mandate,” which requires businesses with 50 or more full-time employees to provide health insurance to those employees.  Under Obamacare, both mandates are scheduled to go into effect in January of 2014.

Both bills passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan support and will now go to the Senate for further consideration.
