A man accused of conspiring with a Warsaw police officer to sell oxycodone in Jones County has been arrested.
Jones and Lenoir County deputies arrested James Parker III, 29, at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at his home in Kinston. Investigators said the arrest was possible with the help of anonymous tips from the community.
At last check, Parker was being taken to the Lenoir County jail.
Parker is accused of selling 19 oxycodone pills to an undercover investigator in Jones County on March 28, said Jones County Sheriff Danny Heath. The transaction happened at Hargetts Crossroads, near Highways 41 and 258, said investigators.
The SBI arrested Ward, 33, on April 24 while she was still on duty, investigators said. She was then fired from the Warsaw Police Department.
Ward was charged with two counts of conspiring to sell/deliver schedule II controlled substances and obstructing justice. At last check, she was being held under a $250,000 secured bond.
Ward had once worked as a narcotics officer, investigators said.
