DOT: Neuse Blvd. resurfacing to begin Wednesday

Officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation said the long-awaited resurfacing of a heavily-damaged road will begin Wednesday.
The project of fixing Neuse Blvd. is headed up by Barnhill Construction; the project costs $1.46 million dollars. The resurfacing will begin between Kensington Park Drive and the Walmart Neighborhood Market.
The project was delayed several times, due to poor weather conditions earlier this year; resurfacing was supposed to start Monday, but rain forced another delay.
"The project shouldn't take probably a couple months at the most. As long as they start within August we should not have a problem finishing in October," said Brad McMannen, NCDOT Resident Engineer.
Barnhill Construction will be charged a fee of $750 a day if the project is not finished on time, the DOT said. That date was set for October 31st.
