A former assistant superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools pleaded guilty Tuesday to accepting gifts and favors from contractors.
Donald Sprunt Hill, 61, of Ramblewood Drive in Mt. Olive, was sentenced to 45 days in jail and 12 months of supervised probation, investigators said. He must also pay a fine of $5,000, including court costs, and perform 50 hours of community service.
According to deputies, Hill committed the crime while serving as the Wayne County assistant superintendent from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009.
The F.B.I. and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office took part in the investigation, resulting in the arrests and convictions of three people, authorities said.
