Authorities have ruled that a fire at a Greenville duplex Monday morning was intentionally set.
According to Greenville Fire and Rescue, Fire Marshal Sam Smith investigated the blaze that happened at 4100 Brook Creek Lane at about 5:06 a.m. Monday. Smith believed the fire at the two-story duplex was intentionally set, but did not explain how. At last check, no arrest was made. Greenville Police are handling the case.
When crews arrived at the scene Monday morning, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the top of the building and the roof appeared to have caved in, fire officials said. The top left unit of the duplex appeared to have been where the fire was centered, and it was the most damaged.
Nobody lived in that unit, investigators said. No injuries were reported.
