Susan Eason Kepley
CLAYTON, JOHNSTON COUNTY -

A North Carolina grandmother's BAC was almost five times the legal limit when she was driving to pick up her grandchildren from school, investigators said.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, deputies saw 57-year-old Susan Eason Kepley, of Clayton, swerving back and forth on Barber Mill Road. The suspect was pulled over at about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies said Kepley was glassy-eyed and her speech was slurred.

Kepley blew a .37 on a breathalyzer, almost five times the legal limit of .08 in North Carolina, deputies said. The suspect said she had been drinking wine at lunch, according to investigators.

Kepley told deputies she was on her way to pick up her grandchildren from school, the Sheriff's Office stated.

Kepley has been charged with driving while impaired. A magistrate court judge allowed the suspect's husband to sign a custody release and take her home.
