GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Greenville Police said they are searching for whoever fired shots into an occupied vehicle, injuring a woman.

The victim told investigators she was sitting in the backseat of a car, parked at the Sheraton Village Apartments on Landmark Street, when people from another vehicle began shooting in her direction. Bullets went through the door and hit the victim in the legs, said Sgt. Joe Friday of Greenville Police. The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. on April 27.

Detectives believed the shooting stemmed from an argument at a private party, held at the Kiwanis Club on Forlines Road in Winterville, Sgt. Friday said.

Detectives were able to identify the gunman's vehicle by using Greenville's public safety camera system, said Sgt. Friday. Police are asking the public to help identify the man driving the white Lincoln. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4315.
