Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday night.

CARTERET COUNTY -

Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday night.

Newport, Wildwood and Broad and Gales Creek firefighters responded to the house fire on Masontown Road in Newport at 7:00 p.m.

No injuries were reported, but a dog died in the fire and the house is a total loss.

Fire investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.

The owner, Tim Gorgas, told a NewsChannel12 reporter he thought an electric heater could have caused the blaze.

Fire fighters said the icy conditions made fighting the fire more difficult.

Anyone looking to help Gorgas, who had no insurance and lost everything, can contact his friend.
