KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY -

Kinston Police are searching for suspects in a shooting that injured a man Monday afternoon.

According to investigators, officers got a call of shots being fired near the intersection of East Lenoir Avenue and Raleigh Street at about 2:25 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man, in his 30s, with a gunshot wound on his leg. The victim was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the suspects in the shooting were in a white Chevy Impala: two black females in the front seats and three black males in the back. According to police, the white Impala has tinted windows, with large bubbles on the back window as if it was a bad tint job.

Police are calling the people in the car persons of interest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kinston Department of Public Safety at 252-939-3160
