MOREHEAD CITY, CARTERET COUNTY -

There is a new leader in the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City.

The marlin, caught by the team aboard  "Hatteras Fever ll"  Wednesday afternoon, weighed in at 465. 3 pounds. That beats the 423.8-pound marlin reeled in by the "Sensation" team on Monday.

The "Hatteras Fever ll" team, based out of Buxton, caught the marlin at about 12:47 p.m. Wednesday. It's the second marlin to be boated in the tournament.

The marlin took between 35 to 40 minutes to reel in, said angler Taylor Miller, adding that it was his first ever blue marlin catch.

The "Sensation" crew, now in second place, caught their marlin at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.  The fish took an hour and a half to reel in, said angler Trey Siner. It was Siner's first ever blue marlin.

No blue marlins were caught on Tuesday though. Big Rock organizers said only 10 boats were out on the water. A wahoo and several dolphins were weighed in.

The Big Rock Blue Marin Tournament is in its 55th year. It is scheduled to run until Saturday.
