National Weather Service receives reports of funnel cloud in Eastern Carolina

JACKSONVILLE, ONSLOW COUNTY -

The National Weather Service was getting reports of a funnel cloud in Onslow County Thursday afternoon.

According to the NWS, the apparent funnel cloud was over the northeast portion of Camp Lejeune from 2:20 to 2:25 p.m. At last check, the funnel cloud was about 500 feet above ground level.

The apparent funnel cloud was moving at about 10 mph, according to reports.  There was no word on damage and no alert was ever issued.
