BEAUFORT COUNTY, WASHINGTON -

Investigators have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly conspiring to sell controlled substances.

According to investigators, 20-year-old William Logan Whichard and 20-year-old Danielle Alex Baker, both of Chocowinity, were spotted preparing to use a controlled substance in a car in a Lowes parking lot.

Investigators had conducted a controlled purchase of Oxycodone, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, from the pair earlier this month.  Officials recognized the vehicle the pair were in during that controlled purchase in the parking lot of Lowes.

When they approached the vehicle, investigators say they found pills in the laps of both Baker and Whichard.  There was also a child in the backseat of the vehicle.

Both Baker and Whichard were taken into custody. Investigators searched the vehicle and found 66 dosage units of Oxycodone, marijuana and syringes. The syringes were found in the backseat of the vehicle next to the child's car seat.

The Department of Social Services has been notified of the investigation and the child was placed in the custody of a family member.

Baker and Whichard are both charged with Trafficking in Opiates by Possession, Trafficking in Opiates by Transportation, Conspiracy to Traffic in Opiates and Conspiracy to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Baker is also charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance  and is charged with a Probation Violation by the Department of Community of Corrections because she was in violation of her probation status.

Whichard was confined under a $27,500 secured bond and Baker was confined under a $40,000 secured bond.
