Pitt Community College carpentry students build a home every year to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The home for sale is a quaint three bedroom, two bathroom bungalow. It is located on the corner of Reedy Branch Road and Warren Drive in Winterville.

Students in the building construction technology program at PCC built the home from scratch. It has a heating and air conditioning system, stainless steel appliances, custom oak cabinets and is energy efficient. The only two items not included in the home are flooring and a refrigerator.

Glenn Morrison is one of the teachers in the department.

"The price of the house is usually our hard cost on the house. And if anything above that is gotten we put it back into our program to buy large equipment that we don't have to ask the tax payers to support us,” he said.

Morrison said students are already working on next year's home.

Chris Moore is one of those students.

"It's gonna take about a year to do the whole thing from start to finish. We started with the side work, bands a couple of weeks ago. Now we're doing walls and getting ready to put up the ceiling joist," Moore said.

The auction for the bungalow home starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
