Police said they have charged a man for breaking into 17 Greenville businesses.
According to investigators, 29-year-old Yachtrez Wood was arrested on Sept. 4. Police said Wood burglarized the 17 businesses over the past two months.
Victims like Kathy Swindell were excited to hear about the arrest. "I'm still not quite sure how they brought it all together, but, it's exciting to know that they caught him," said Swindell.
Investigators say they used scene evidence, surveillance video and physical surveillance to make the arrest.
Jerome Dixon is another victim of the burglaries. "It's a violation of course, any time something like this happens it's shocking," said Dixon. The arrests, however, have calmed his nerves. "It was a good feeling, I slept very well last night," he said.
In most of the break-ins, Wood likely used concrete blocks or bricks to smash the windows, police said. In some of the cases, the suspect allegedly pried open back doors. Wood stole cash and other valuables from the businesses, according to investigators.
