Police arrest second suspect in Greenville shooting

GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Police have arrested a second suspect in a Greenville shooting that injured a man.

Christopher Ryan Hardy, 25, of Greenville, was taken into custody on Wednesday. According to investigators, he was hiding in his grandmother's  house.

He, along with 27-year-old Darien Cunningham, of Greenville, are accused of a shooting that injured 30-year-old Koki Kinte Purvis on May 23. The victim was found with a gunshot wound at a store on Hartford Street, near the corner of Hooker Road and Greenville Boulevard.

Hardy is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was jailed under a $500,000 secured bond.

Cunningham is charged with one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and other misdemeanor charges. He was being held under a $300,000 bond.

That shooting happened just 45 minutes before another shooting in Greenville that killed a man and injured another. It happened on Griffin Street. No arrest has been made in that case.
