Police said they worked with deputies and the FBI to arrest a former pastor on child pornography charges.

MOUNT OLIVE, WAYNE COUNTY -

Police said they worked with deputies and the FBI to arrest a former pastor on child pornography charges.

Timothy Jack Strickland, 41, was arrested Tuesday on 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, police said. Strickland was a pastor of Jones Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive.

According to investigators, when they searched the suspect's home on East James Street, they found "materials that indicated sexual exploitation minors." Authorities seized several items from the home to be tested by the FBI, police said.

NewsChannel 12 spoke with a neighbor, who did not want to go on camera but said she's worried about her five-year-old grandson who plays in the area.

"Knowing that there's this person on our block who’s interested in child pornography is very unnerving," said a concerned neighbor.

Strickland is at the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Mount Olive Police said they worked with both the Duplin and Wayne County Sheriff's Offices, as well as the FBI, to make the arrest.
