Police said they are looking for a group of men responsible for a home invasion and robbery in Winterville.
The Winterville Police Department said the incident happened on the 2600 block of Jasmine Drive at about 10:35 p.m. Tuesday.
The victims told officers that four black males, armed with handguns, entered the residence as the victims were unlocking their front door.
The homeowner and his three friends were then bound and assaulted, police said.
The homeowner is the manager of the Tokyo Japanese Restaurant in Greenville. He told NewsChannel 12 he didn't know the intruders. He said the robbers hit him twice in the head with a gun, and restrained him with plastic zip ties.
Winterville Police Chief Ryan Willhite said the suspects didn't chose this house at random.
"Victims did mention that the suspects were wet. It could be that they may have waited outside for a certain amount of time,” he explained.
Willhite said there are some interesting similarities in this case to the same crime happening in surrounding towns.
"We are not naïve enough to think this can't happen in Winterville. So we plan to reach out to other agencies and bring this to a close as quickly as possible," he said.
The robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and possibly left on foot, according to investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Winterville Police Department at 252-756-1105.
