An Onslow County school psychologist is accused of shoplifting at a department store in the Jacksonville Mall.
Tanja Ilic, 27, of Jacksonville, was charged on Wednesday with misdemeanor larceny for allegedly stealing from Belk on Dec. 19. Police have not said what the suspect allegedly took.
Investigators said surveillance photos of the theft were released, prompting tipsters to identify the suspect to Crime Stoppers. Ilic then turned herself in and admitted to the crime, police said.
According to the Onslow County School System, Ilic is a psychologist for exceptional children at Silverdale Elementary and Sand Ridge Elementary. Suzie Ulbrich of Onslow County Schools told NewsChannel 12 that Ilic will meet with officials about her job status on Monday.
Records show Tanja Ilic has no prior convictions in North Carolina.
