An Onslow County Sheriff's Deputy is being investigated for the alleged misuse of a county credit card.
Over the weekend we received an email about alleged misconduct by an Onslow County Deputy.
The email alleges that an Onslow Deputy has been using a county credit card to gas up his private vehicle.
Sheriff Brown says he worked late Monday night going through the employees' receipts. He says, at first glance, it appears a vehicle may have been filled up too often but he says the employee's cruiser was used for surveillance, which could explain why it was using so much gas.
The email claimed the county employee was going to be terminated on Friday. When we asked Sheriff Brown about that, he stated that the employee was going to resign. Sheriff Brown couldn't say if the resignation had anything to do with the investigation.
Sheriff Brown says he plans to meet with District Attorney Ernie Lee on Friday about the investigation. So far no charges have been filed.
We contacted the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to see if that department is involved. We are still waiting to hear back.
