WINTERVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Police have charged two Pitt Community College students and another man for an alleged campus stabbing Friday morning.

The two PCC students, 21-year-old Corey Purvis and his brother, 20-year-old Kevin Purvis, both of Windsor, were involved in an altercation with a non-student, 24-year-old Jashawn Brown, of Colerain, said PCC Police Chief Jay Shingleton. The suspects were between the Reddrick and Herman Simon buildings when the fight broke out at about 11 a.m. Friday, Shingleton said. When officers arrived, they had to break up the fight.

Corey Purvis and Jashawn Brown were stabbed and were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, according to Shingleton. They have since been treated and released.

Brown has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, simple affray, and possession of a weapon on campus. He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000.

The Purvis brothers have been charged with simple affray.

Police said  the altercation between the three men may have stemmed from an off-campus incident.
