Power Outage
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA -

According to Tideland EMC officials, power has been restored to all Tideland EMC customers in Beaufort, Hyde and Washington counties.

The power was restored almost 5 hours after a Dominion Power transmission service interruption.

Tideland EMC alerted NewsChannel 12 that power was lost to roughly 9,000 customers early Tuesday morning.

Around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, the electric company reported power was restored to its Washington and Five Points substations in Beaufort and Washington counties.  About 6,000 customers remained without power at that time.

According to officials with the electric company, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Dominion Power lost transmission service near Wharton Station.

The outage affected all Tideland members north of the Pamlico River with the exception of members served by the Plymouth and Manns Harbor substations. Dominion has not yet determined the cause of the outage.
