BELHAVEN, BEAUFORT COUNTY -

Deputies said they seized a large amount of drugs at a Beaufort County home, including almost $20,000 in marijuana. The bust led to the arrest of three suspects.

According to investigators, they searched the home at 670 Pine Street in Belhaven on Friday. There, they found 960 grams of marijuana known as "Kine Bud," with an estimated street value of $19,200, deputies said.

"We call it “Kine Bud” because it's expensive on the street at $20 a gram," said Beaufort County Narcotics Investigator Captain Russell Davenport.

Davenport said they also seized 2.6 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales, plastic bags used for repackaging marijuana, a Clorox hidden container, a Sprite can hidden container, and numerous cell phones that were allegedly used to make drug sales.

Deputies arrested 39-year-old Delray Jennette, 40-year-old Dexter Dills, and 20-year-old James Taylor, who lives at the home. Investigators said the drug bust happened just down this road from a child care facility.

Davenport said their drug dog sniffed out two pounds of pot buried under a pile of clothes in the home. He said after receiving a number of complaints from neighbors they decided to investigate.

"We started making controlled purchases and doing surveillance and a lot of drug dealers we've arrested in the Belhaven area were hanging out at the residence," Davenport said.

According to investigators, Jennette was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana within 1000 feet of a child care facility, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held under a $15,000 secured bond.

Dills was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $750 secured.

Taylor was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000.00 secured.
