The Highway Patrol has released the identity of a driver killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Pamlico County Tuesday afternoon.
According to troopers, 43-year-old Lena Anderson Perez, of Grantsboro, was driving her 2004 Suzuki passenger car south on Highway 306, near Highway 55, at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. During that time, 53-year-old Francisco Arreola Jimenez, of Arapahoe, was traveling north on Highway 306 in his Chevy pickup truck.
Troopers said Perez crossed the center line and hit Jimenez's vehicle. Perez was killed; Jimenez was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center, where he was treated and released, investigators said.
No charges will be filed in the wreck, troopers said. There was no word on what caused Perez to cross the center line.
