Troopers have charged a man for allegedly crashing his car into an SUV with a mom and two children inside, then leaving the scene.
According to investigators, Jesse Mitchell, seen in the surveillance photo above, has been charged with felony hit-and-run, careless and reckless driving, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Troopers said Mitchell ran a stop sign and crashed his Mitsubishi 3000GT into Nancy Landeros' Jeep Grand Cherokee Tuesday night. The wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 55 and Dover Road. The impact caused Landeros' Jeep to roll over, troopers said.
According to investigators Landeros had a young daughter and an infant in the vehicle with her. All three were transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center. At last check, all were expected to make a full recovery.
Mitchell ran from the scene on foot, investigators said.
