NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY -

Tryon Palace will offer free admission to the gardens during Mumfest weekend.

The gardens will display mums during the free "Mum's the Word" event. The event kicks off Friday at 9 a.m. and continues through 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The palace will also hold its Fall Heritage Plant Sale, in conjunction with Mumfest. The sale will be held Friday and Saturday on the Daves House lawn, located just inside the front gate.

The sale is a fundraising event that supports the upkeep and care of the gardens. All items for sale have been grown locally or in the Tryon Palace greenhouse.

The Craft and Garden Shop will also be open both days of the plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 33rd annual Mumfest is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday in downtown New Bern. There will be food, rides and merchandise made in Eastern North Carolina.

NewsChannel 12 will have a booth set up, so come visit!
