A man has been arrested in Duplin County for allegedly stealing a van, having drugs, and lying about his identity.
Kenansville Police have identified the suspect as Linwood Dwight Clayburn.
According to investigators, an officer spotted Clayburn Tuesday in a van in a wooded area near an assisted living home in Kenansville . The officer later found out the vehicle was stolen from Lumberton, police said.
Police said the officer found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and crack cocaine in the van. Clayburn tried to destroy evidence by stomping on a crack pipe, nearly kicking the officer, police added.
Clayburn had no identification on him and told the officer a fake name, according to police. But after contacting the Lumberton Police Department, the suspect was positively identified, according to investigators.
Clayburn has been charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist, obstruct, and delay, common law forgery, fictitious information, and maintaining a vehicle for keeping cocaine.
